Sylvie-Anne St-Aubin Review of Rideau Carleton Raceway

We went for the Sunday brunch which was delicious. Sumptuous fresh roast beef is always the star but their fried chicken was amazingly flavourful and juicy, their cheese plater is varied, vegetables are fresh and perfectly cooked. There is something for everyone and you could fill up on normal bacon and eggs, hashbrowns, benedicts and sausage which are yummy too. The tables are a little too close together but people there are generally friendly. The little TVs for watching the race seriously get in the way but this is a race track. The ambiance is light and bright due to the large floor to ceiling windows overlooking the race track. Watching the horses is a real treat whether they're racing or not. It is impeccably clean and the buffet area is modern, welcoming and feels like an upclassed kitchen. The staff are very friendly even though they are constantly on the move. It can take sometime to get your coffee refilled unless you put your empty cup near the tables edge as an indicator.
The price is fair if you're going to enjoy the more expensive fare such as the roast beef but if you just want regular breakfast items and not lunch then the price is exorbitant. Also, avoid the pastries, they are almost always too dry and lack flavour. Which is a shame because I love a good pastry.
Over all this is a great brunch with amazing selection, fresh food, good ambiace, and friendly staff. Great for a special occasion.
