I went for my colonoscopy yesterday on Friday the 13th of July, 2018. Obviously not an auspicious day. I had some dread as I didn't know what to expect, as my previous colonoscopy was at Mercy outpatient in the South Side, now closed. The nurses (in the endoscopy dept?) were universally nice, which was a relief, as the regimen was different for the prep the day before, and was a lot more grueling than three years prior. The procedure went well with Dr. Appasamy, who did the same great job without a hitch as usual, and the nurses even gave me a little can of Pepsi afterward. Boy, was I thirsty as nothing was allowed 4 hours prior to the procedure. They gave me a plastic draw string bag, with the socks that I had to wear during the procedure. But I wasn't aware till I got home, that inside the bag was a thank you card signed by all four nurses, Sally, Diane, Jennifer, and Luanne. That was really nice. No one likes to go to the hospital for surgery. But if you go to Mercy, you can count on great attentive nurses, who are kind as well.
