I recently worked with Conicelli Honda when researching and test-driving new cars. I had difficulty filtering their inventory online, so I clicked on the "Chat with us" button. When I asked whether they had specific car in stock I wanted to test-drive, the agent said she'd be happy to check for me, then asked what kind of car I planned to trade in. I almost closed the browser window to look for another dealership, but I didn't. I did test-drive the car, and two others, and the front desk representative and the salesperson could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. I was not prepared to make a decision on-the-spot as I was still in the research stage, but I did experience a moderate amount of pressure to commit on the spot. "What can we do to get your business?" "This offer is only good until 9:00 tonight." When it was clear I wasn't going to make a purchase that day, their tone changed to "Hey - we're a no-pressure place." Over the next few days, I received a few text messages and emails inquiring where I was with the car decision, which I have also experienced from other dealerships. I have mixed feelings about the "follow up" contacts. Those that ask if I have any questions are okay; those that ask about my decision-making process feel intrusive and pushy. I do like Hondas and Conicelli has a great inventory, and a good service reputation, but be prepared to feel a bit of hard-sell if you visit.
