I should have done more research before choosing to take massage classes with Kine Concept. I say this because they were too structured and weren t very holistic in their practices. I have also had some bad experiences with this school. Some of these bad experiences include the disorganization of management, which oversees other schools as well, including Guijek.
(1) Students had a requirement to generate a massage plan directly before the massage would take place (i.e. which parts of the body you intended to massage and the amount of time you would allot to each section, as well as the justification). The amount of time given to do this exercise was unreasonable, and I found the entire process to be unnecessary.
(2) During a student practice I felt discomfort/pain while receiving an abdominal massage, and when I finally voiced myself, instead of stopping, the student asked the teacher for feedback. The teacher stated that for the sake of education , we will be continuing the exercise. Because of this, I didn t want to be there for the abdominal practice, but felt that I did not have a choice. I felt that my trust was breached by the student, teacher, and the school. As this exercise caused me pain, it should have been considered completely unethical. I did not think of it at that specific moment, but I am Celiac and could have been having inflammatory complications. The school was previously made aware of my condition.
(3) I would have to say that the biggest issue would be administration threatening students. I was shown email correspondence that shows just that. I am not sure if this was holistically done or procedure based, but this has made me hesitate to put up a review sooner.
On the plus side, most teachers are highly knowledgeable, and the experience overall will not be forgotten.
