We were given a beautiful table overlooking the Gardens, which was lovely. Our sushi was nice, as were our starters. The manager was friendly and professional.

However, there were a number of unforgivable issues with our experience, which made our night memorable for all the wrong reasons.

1. The service was unacceptably slow
We waited over an hour between our starter and main course. Our waiter didn t collect our starter plates for over 30 minutes. She tried to look busy by doing rapid laps of the tables but was never doing much. We had to get her attention to ask her to take our main course plates away. Please note, we had been at the restaurant 2 hours before we were served our mains - this is not good enough. Most restaurants require their table back after such length. The chef needs to address this issue as most complaints online highlight same.

2. The worst steak I ve ever eaten
My partner ordered Wagyu steak and it was deplorable. Yes, wagyu is fattier than fillet but he should not have been served such a hard lump of inedible lard. Despite there being a full plate of food, our ever-observant waiter did not ask how our meal when collecting the plates was so my partner flagged with her that the steak was not to an acceptable standard. Thankfully, she brought the manager over who was very capable and well mannered. He tried to defend the chef but also apologized. The chef would not have fed this steak to his dog. The manager gave us complimentary desserts which was greatly appreciated, and he brought us to seats in the lounge after our meal.

3. Very poor food


In conclusion, this restaurant would be long closed down if it weren t for its excellent location. Everything about it is substandard and I will never be back.
