I have been to Memorial Hospital numerous times over the last 15 years for my regularly scheduled cystocopy and ureathrotomy. I have, in the past, always felt confident of the nursing staff. This time however, was quite different. Fist, when they did a stick for my blood sugar the nurse cleaned the ring finger on my RH and promptly stuck the middle finger. After the procedure before going home, I asked for a large catheter bag to take home for night use in place of the leg bag I was wearing. I was told that was impossible because they would have to pull the current catheter and replace the catheter with the other bag. I told them they were not pulling the catheter, I only needed the big bag too. They tried to convince me the hospital had run out of catheter bags, then that they would have to go to another floor to get one....but they would still have to change catheters. I left without the second bag. I have had sufficient experience with urology in the last 68 years to know one can change catheter bags without changing the catheter. When I spoke with my doctor about the situation he indicated that he had ordered two bags for me. Someone needs some education on how to change catheter bags without pulling the catheter. Thanks for reading. I look forward to better service again in the future.
