Aging Outreach Services hires "independent contractors" which means that they are not responsible for any misconduct by the caregivers they employ. They receive the money but not the responsibility. If they had their own employees and could actually be held accountable for those employees, perhaps they would be more discriminate in who they employ and send to their clients' homes. We are still having huge reprecussions from a horrible experience with an AOS "independent contractor" who was dishonest, stole money, credit cards and so much more. We are still dealing with legal ramefications over a year later. We complained to AOS about these issues and they kept this "caregiver" for almost a year after our complaint...they even stated that they had "suspisions" about this caregiver, yet they kept sending her to vulnerable clients. Hiring independent contractors only protects AOS and not the families who trust in them and pay for their services.
