I LOVE my BMW. However, the customer service sucks. I received a letter that it had an open recall. The letter stated that if I smelled burning plastic, I should pull over IMMEDIATELY and have it towed to the nearest service center as there is a potential for the car to catch on fire. Yes, I smell burning plastic, and the heater valve often opens up and blows hot air, even when it is hot as hell outside and the AC is blasting. Sounds to me like it's the recalled part.

Now, the closest service center is 73 miles away. That's a $364 tow fee which BMW 'might' cover if they determine that the issues are recall related. Meanwhile, right after I received the recall letter, my husband passed away, so now I also have to find someone to drive me to pick the vehicle up.

Right now, I have a beautiful, nonfunctional paperweight sitting in my driveway. A wonderful birthday gift from my late husband, which has become a major logistics problem and has tainted my love for the vehicle.

At this point, I'm seriously considering taking it to the local Mercedes dealership and trading it, because the Mercedes dealer would NOT tolerate this kind of piss poor service...especially when the client has been recently widowed.
