I rent, and Kenny stopped by today for a basic HVAC check-up at the request of the property owner. He was professional, friendly, and clearly knew what he was doing. Kenny discovered that the thermostat somehow ended up on the emergency heat mode setting, so the furnace was heating the apartment and not the heat pump. (I woke up one a.m. after a cold night not long ago to discover I had no heat - first thing I checked was the circuit breaker and that was the issue. After Kenny showed me how you can end up in emergency heat mode (when I moved in, I read thru the manual for the thermostat and furnace, and clearly missed this mode - I had no idea) and I may have unwittingly hit the heat button twice when I was checking the thermostat.) So, he explained the amps and watts usage between heat mode and emergency heat mode and this is going to ultimately save me some money since the heat mode uses vastly less power than emergency heat mode. As I said to Kenny, emergency heat mode = ca-ching, ca-ching!! So, I have the confidence of a serviced and checked system (called to task with this year's extreme temperatures), I'll save on heating bills, and I now know a lot more! He did a great job.
