I had a very disappointing experience with Southtree. I sent them nearly 1000 well-preserved, carefully stored professional negatives to be scanned. The scans were all absolutely unusable. Dust spots on every scan. All scans had cropped off the top of the negative leaving heads cut off. Some scans were reversed, i.e. they scanned the negative with the emulsion side of the film facing up instead of down.The strips of film I sent to them preserved in plastic sleeves were just dumped, unprotected, into envelopes upon their return.

When I brought these problems to their attention, they did not care and said that dust was typical of their work. I have since sent the job to another scanning service in the hope that they have higher standards than Southtree. They returned $100 of the $250 I paid.
