Brittney Saylors Review of Maynard's Restaurant

I went with my boyfriend, and the atmosphere was very open and lively even without many people there. There were very thoughtful pieces everywhere, from the furniture to the salt and pepper shakers, to the lighting. Comfortable and sleek.
We did order things a bit out of order, mostly because I wanted to see the entree portions before ordering extras. Over the course of the night, we enjoyed the beef bourginion, wild salmon, duck spring rolls, fresh oysters, and the chef inspired soup of the day, which was pumpkin curry soup, and the coffee bread pudding.
The beef dish was like every individual ingredient was the ideal of carrot, medallion onion, potato etc. All with little meddling from the sauce that accompanied it all. The beef was not overpowering either, mellow but beyond incredibly tender. This dish is simple, though the flavor could've been more robust, it was an excellent dish nonetheless.
The oysters and accompanying sauces were refreshing and tasty. Minimal shell came away with these oysters, maybe one or two very small piece among the dozen.
The duck spring rolls made us both say wow, zesty and bright flavors and the sauce sent it over the edge of ridiculous!
The soup was hands down the best, it was by far my favorite food of the night. It was more a puree in a cup, so the density added a lot of textures that were pleasant on top of the already stellar flavors. There wasnt spicy, though obviously spiced well. It had that ginger/lemongrass tang that is a signature in thai curry, while also being mildly sweet from the pumpkin. I was half kicking myself that I didnt just order two bowls of this instead of my entree! I hope it shows up on the menu again in the future!
The bread pudding was very stylish, but I believe since it was stacked high in a pillar shape, the diced bread didnt all get soaked. Some cubes of it was like croutons, some closer to your standard bread pudding. Th caramel sauce was surrounding it for you to dip the bread into. It was very flavorful, not too rich either. Though some things on the menu stated they cane with ice cream on top, the menu didnt say it about this dish though it came out with ice cream on top so be aware if you can only handle so much dairy. It was seemingly fresh made ice cream, good quality.
There is a neat tablet style device the servers use to put in orders. From walking in to the check after all that food, it was about 45 minutes at the point we were enjoying dessert so their time to put in your order is next to nothing. The check getting split was also very painless. Offered email or print check, not text as I'd seen before. More like a store in that sense.
Our server Desirae(spelling? The servers didnt have name tags) was friendly and actively checked in. By the time I thought of something I needed, she was maybe half a minute behind a need arising at the table. She even came over to ask how we were doing when we didnt have food in our mouths lol we got to actually dignify ourselves with answering her about the phenomenal food! I'm sure you've experienced that a time or two.
Overall the experience was great, and I look forward to going in again to see what else they come up with! I hope this was helpful!
