Mimi Michalski Review of Animal Emergency & Referral as...

I can't believe there are negative reviews for AERA. I have been bringing animals here for at least 20 years - they have never been anything but kind and helpful. Sure, it's not cheap, but they have people caring for your pets overnight. Most vets do not. So that is worth extra money in MY book. To me it's all about my animals. Most recently I brought my cat here because on a Friday night he suddenly couldn't eat and was drooling - turned out he had some kind of ulceration under the tongue. They kept him over the weekend, and did a biopsy on Monday when the surgeon was available. In the meantime they put him on prednisone and he was much improved by the time I picked him up. I don't remember the price, I'm sure it wasn't cheap. But then the doctor that had done the biopsy (Dr. Kelly Johnson) had me bring him in for FREE follow-up care as she monitored the improvement in the ulceration. He was on prednisone for about two months and she did all those follow-up checkups for free. In the end my cat was cured (we never did know what caused it, as it wasn't cancer - but it resolved with the prednisone), and with all the free visits, to me, this was a good bargain! I also can't say enough about the specialists they have there - our previous dog had the TPLO surgery to repair an ACL tear by Dr. Hunt, Dr. Singer and others removed mast cell tumors from our dog, Diva. Dr. Alsarraf, the oncologist, is a wonderful, compassionate person. She couldn't help us with our old dog because her cancer had spread so rapidly, but she did keep a friend's cat alive for 4 years with chemotherapy when he had lymphoma. I have nothing but good things to say about this entire practice.
