Honestly, I ve stayed at less expensive hotels and had far better experiences.
1. If you book online with a military discount be prepared that the non refundable price you pay in advance DOES NOT include their $22.50 daily resort fee.
2. The room was literally a king bed with the dresser and TV to the far left of the bed so that it is impossible to watch tv from the bed. Instead you are forced to use one of the two most uncomfortable chairs. And this was an upgrade from the standard room!
3. The TV- there is no menu and the guide provided by the hotel is inaccurate & it does not display channels;. so you are left surfing channels trying to guess at what to watch.
4. The bathroom. It is small, very small. We came to Daytona because my son was fighting and part of the prep is cutting weight which requires a bathtub and or hot tub. So when I booked this hotel I did so specifically because they had a hot tub and bath tub. First, only a child or someone under 5 ft could fit in the tub so the tub was useless. We then asked where the hot tub was as we couldn t find it yet it s advertised on their website and oh it s in the SPA! So you can only use it during spa hours AND you have to purchase a service (100-200$) or pay $10 pp to use it. At the cost of this hotel and with the daily resort fee you would think a HOT TUB would be included as it is in almost every other hotel.
5. The toilet in the bathroom runs forever and is very loud so far warning- don t use it at night unless you want to wake everyone else in the room.
6. Power outlets- there is an outlet only on one side of the bed! So the other person in the bed is unable to use or do anything that requires electricity.
7. They are repairing from LAST YEARS hurricane damage- which they DO NOT tell you until you arrive to check in. But that s ALL they say but the do offer you a refund if you choose not to stay (after you ve driven for hours and know that it takes a few days to a week for them to refund your money and then you are stranded). What they don t tell you until AFTER you ve checked in is that there is construction M-F from 8:30-5 and folks who paid extra for an ocean view with a balcony- sorry but balances are closed during the week!
8. Over a busy weekend, they close down one elevator- there are only two for this entire hotel! But hey there is yet another sign by the elevators telling you that they are doing construction on the elevators and thank you for your patience.
9. Check in- is chaos. Due to the hurricane damage the car park area for check in is closed. So you need to drop off someone to check in and then drive around the block until they are done.
10. SELF PARKING: I am a disabled veteran but my son was told he could not stay and wait for me to check in and was instructed to go self park. There are NO handicapped parking spots!! If there was, it was only one. I do believe this is not compliant with the ADA standards. But at the very least was infuriating. To add to this, they have closed off the top levels of the parking garage so there is literally only two very small floors in which to park. Good luck finding a spot!! Then if you so self park there is no one to help with luggage, no luggage carriers , nothing. You are on your own to lug everything through the garage as there is only ONE entrance from the garage to the hotel, down a short hall and to the elevators (remember there is only one so you will be waiting for quite a while)
11. I understand they do offer complimentary valet parking and with that you get help and luggage carriers but what are you to do when the valet instructs you to self park??
12. The microwave works as long as you jiggle the cord!
13. For some reason housekeeping decided that 10:30 pm was the proper time to vacuum the hallways.
14. Bring a flashlight if you are going to the pool after dark as there is no lighting from the hotel through the path to the pool and the lighting at the pool itself is minimal.
I ll never stay here again, Airbnb it- far better experience and actually worth the price.
