As an Atlanta native I recall a time when this restaurant was at it's zenith. However; once Anthony sold it it has gone straight down hill. It is old, smelly and basically worn out. The present owners seem to be more interested in making money off of tourism in which they do and will continue to do so. However the good reviews of this place has little or nothing to compare it to when it was in its heyday.

The wait staff was good however i felt rushed to get my order in and wasn't in a hurry since I didn't want my meal served on top of my appetizer. The pecan crusted catfish was ok and the black eyed pea cakes were dry and totally flavourless. The fried chicken was good, not excellent as some have said. My breast was tough and the potatoes and veggies were getting the chicken wet and losing its crispness underneath. So unless you dont mind soggy bottom chicken dont bother with asking for your chicken to be served on a separate plate. The sides used to be served in separate small bowls.

THE $ 15 SIDE SALAD BAR WAS A JOKE. IT HAD SEVEN ITEMS ON IT AND THREE ITEMS CONSISTED OF TWO BOWLS OF ROMAINE LETTUCE AND ONE OF RAW SPINACH GREENS. I ASKED MY WAITER WHY ARE YOU CHARGING SO MUCH FOR A SIDE SALAD BAR WHEN IT HAS HARDLY ANYTHING ON IT. HE SAID THERE NEEDS TO BE CHICKEN SALAD AND OTHER ITEMS THAT I CANNOT RECALL. WHEN I TOLD HIM THEY WERENT ON THE BAR AND COULD HE PLEASE LET THEM KNOW IN THE KITCHEN, HE CAME OUT AND SAID THEY ARE MAKING IT FOR TOMORROW NIGHT AND THAT IS ALL THEY ARE OFFING TONIGHT. SO I ASKED WILL IT STILL BE $15? HIS REPLY WAS "YES". . I WAS SHOCKED TO SAY THE LEAST

We were seated near the kitchen that has swinging doors that squeaked and squealed to high heaven. We were shoved back there because I am in a wheelchair and honestly there was plenty of room to be seated elsewhere. There were others in my party so I did not bother to ask to be moved. I should have. My mistake. I did ask the manager if the door could be oiled. He said that that was on his looong list of things to do. I told him it only takes a small amount of oil. Salad oil would have done the job. We honestly could hardly hear ourselves think as the evening progressed on and they became busier as that door was flying back and forth...

The piano player is the son of the original gentleman who played there for years. Sorry but all he could do was bang out piano chords. Oh it was awful. But a very sweet man..

The restrooms are tiny so if you are handicapped BE SURE you go before you arrive. There is no room for a wheelchair in which if there is code on that subject, they are in major violation. Also you will have to go in through the back door, the front entrance cannot accommodate the wheelchairs.

Honestly I wish we had gone over to Mary Mac's on Ponce. they have kept up the tradition and the food quality. Very little has changed including the wait staff that has been there for decades.

I do not recommend Pitty Pats for the simple reason that it's no longer quaint. It's old and decrepit. The food is Waaay over priced and parking is scary up in that old 1940's parking deck at night. And DO avoid those swinging kitchen doors.... Good luck...
