There was a covid-19 outbreak on the seafreeze America in March of 2021. This outbreak was not reported to health officials and the COO of the company lied outright about the timeliness of reporting in a news article published after arriving in Dutch Harbor. Quarantine protocols were not followed according to Alaska state guidelines.
Furthermore, the crew was kept at sea during the worst part of the outbreak and lied to by the captain, first mate and the factory manager about both conditions regarding those that tested positive and how it was being communicated to the alaska health department and HR based in Seattle, WA. While voicing concerns to the captain and the first mate regarding the safety of sailors on board, I personally was treated with scorn, foul language and disdain.
Only once we returned to port, at the direction of the United States Coast Guard, were protocols followed. And only to the barest of minimums. The hotel in Anchorage we were quarantined in afterwards received no notice of over forty positive cases arriving in their care on April 10th 2021 leading to many problems with both management and security posted on the premises.
Overall, I would not recommend this company. Truthfulness and safety are seemingly not something that they are concerned with.
