Dear Tova,
My mother entered an assisted living facility in 2015, and I knew eventually that she would most
likely exhaust her assets and need to apply for Medicaid. I began to look into the process early on, and
was very discouraged to see how much information was required, and felt the whole process was
specifically designed to reject most applicants.
About four years ago, the assisted living facility sponsored a seminar conducted by Senior
Planning Services explaining the process, and what kind of services they provided. I decided to call and
inquire further. I explained that it would be several years before it was necessary, but I was definitely
interested. They kept in touch every six months or so to see how things were progressing.
By January 2020, I set up an in home consultation with Sol Barrish, who was very thorough,
professional, and helpful. My questions and concerns were addressed, and he left me feeling very at
ease and confident.
Throughout the entire seven month process, I was working with Sarah Fleisher on gathering
needed information, and assuring that everything was in order. Finally, I was notified that my mother
was approved for Medicaid as of September 1.
I cannot say enough about how helpful Senior Planning Services has been during this process. I
don t think I could have gone through this successfully without them. I would definitely recommend
Senior Planning Services to anyone facing this situation. They are thorough, professional, and most of all,
comforting by taking on the entire burden of this process, allowing you to focus on whatever other
circumstances you may face in your life.
