Just got back last week from a 12 day all inclusive stay in a 2 bedroom villa that was very spacious. Thank goodness for the shuttle service as the roads up to the villas were very steep to say the least, only walked uphill twice and walked downhill always as gravity helped. However didnt realize that 1 bedroom was upstairs and one downstairs, so if someone has mobility issues it could be a problem. Loved the rooftop patio with lounges at night as we could see the stars. During the day it was too hot as no umbrella etc. for shade. Had breakfast or dinner at the Dragonfly either menu or buffet. My friend had to have a talk with the manager Cheryl on our 2nd time there as the staff obviously didn t want to be there. No greeting, smiles, and had to wait 30 minutes for juice, mimosas etc. The next day, it was an amazing change. Staff smiling, asking how we were, enjoying vacation, etc. Cheryl thanked my friend for bringing it to her attention and obviously Cheryl s talk to the staff had a definite impact. When staff are friendly and smiling you are inclined to leave a tip too. Nadia loved serving us and was very attentive. You do have to check when the restaurants are open, the Dragonfly is closed 2 nights(Thursday,Sunday?) as well as Papa Don s (Wednesday and Thursday). Papa Don s Italian restaurant was great, from the staff (June manager) and the delicious food every time we ate there. The cats can be a little demanding(especially the little orange one), but if you ignore them, they go to another table. The Upper Deck and Jammers and Embers also had very nice food as well. Enjoyed lounging near the 96 degree beach bar where Nona always gave us great service.
My friend accidentally put her blue sunshirt in with the blue towel when we returned from a catamaran excursion and gave it to the towel hut person. Didn t realize it til the next morning, asked at front desk, who called housekeeping and rechecked at towel hut...not to be found...until the next day when Arlington asked us in the lobby, if he could help us with anything, as we had once again asked at the front desk about the sun shirt. Well lo and behold when we asked if the laundry was done in house and told it was, we knew the shirt had to be on site. Within a few minutes, Arlington called housekeeping and they had found the sun shirt and it would be laundered and delivered to our room... thank you so much Arlington....
Overall we had a great time in St. Lucia, did 4 excursions, Soufriere catamaran sail(if your main interest is the snorkelling, it may only be 20 minutes), Rainforest hike, tram and zip lining package, Pigeon Island treasure hunt(Germaine our guide) and the Mt. Pimard hike (Germaine), (WARNING, THIS HIKE IS NOT DIFFICULT, BUT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT!!!, you have to use ropes to pull yourself up some sheer rock faces, and we sweat off at least 5 pounds doing it!!), worth the view at the top but then had to go back down same way...just make sure you have travel insurance if you do this hike (It should be a challenge on Survivor or the Amazing Race). We should have received a badge or T-shirt saying we survived the Mt. Pimard hike, St. Lucia.
