I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Diffuse Scleroderma, life expectancy 8 years. The minute I was diagnosed, I wanted to do everything on my end that I could to control this disease. Searching for a functional medicine doctor, I found Dr. Sexton. We did a ton of food sensitivity tests, stool samples and urine tests. When we got the results, Dr. Sexton went over everything with me and he came up with a list of foods that I can/cannot eat and supplements to help the healing of my gut.
Lisa, my health coach, met with me every week and we came up with foods to eat, meals to prepare and she really taught me a ton about what I'm putting in my body. We've cried together and laughed together and I could not love her more!
Fast forward 5 months. I just saw my Scleroderma doctor, and he was shocked at the progression of my disease! I have no internal involvement, which for the aggressive kind I have, is very rare. He doesn't know my whole story of my functional medicine and strict diet, but he said, "wow, I don't know if it's luck, or genes, or something you're doing, but I see you going on to live a long life, and I'm sure you will be in remission in no time". WHAT???
From the first month, I was feeling so great. I had more energy, I slept AMAZING, my moods were always positive and happy. I had just been told I had a death sentence, but I had NEVER felt better! Then, hearing my other doctor say that my progression has basically stopped, was something I never expected to hear. I know it is 100% because of the changes I made to my body.
Dr. Sexton and Lisa have completely saved my life!
