King Khalid International Airport (IATA: RUH, ICAO: OERK) is an international airport about 20 kilometers away from the Saudi capital, Riyadh. [1] [2] [3] It is the center of the national air transportation system. Designed by the American Architectural Office Helmut, Obata and Kasabaum, it was opened in 1983 to be the largest airport in the world in terms of area, with the airport's land area of about 225 square kilometers, and the airport bears the name of Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was the fourth king of Saudi Arabia.

The number of passenger lounges is 5 lounges, which include three internal lounges (two lounges are currently operational and the other is empty and not completed for future use) and two international lounges connected by four connected buildings, and each of these halls is triple-planed, i.e. with a triangular base and a floor area of approximately 47,500 square meters. Each of the buildings connecting the terminals is 168 meters long and an approximate area of 25,000 square meters. The buildings contain moving paths, restaurants, canteens, offices for airlines, government agencies and commercial markets. In front of the halls, there is also a public parking area of three floors, which can accommodate about 8000 cars in addition to 3600 cars on the roof.

Fifth Hall

The Fifth Terminal (TR-5) is a building on a total area of nearly 100 square meters, to accommodate 12 million passengers annually for domestic flights. The contract includes the construction of eight double gates connecting the terminal directly to aircraft, in addition to logistical facilities that include the construction of a road network linking the developed areas to the main road to and from The city of Riyadh, with the current terminals, and multi-storey parking that can accommodate 3000 cars, and once the passenger traffic is transferred from the third to the fifth terminals, the development of the third and fourth terminals will begin after signing with an alliance led by a German company with a value of 5.4 billion riyals, so that the airport will be able to accommodate 24 million passengers annually.

Royal Hall

It is the hall dedicated to the royal and official receptions of the state. The Royal Terminal is located at the western end of the airport. Its total area is about 28,500 square meters, and there is a ceremony square between the royal wing and the mosque, which is 12.50 in width and about 400 meters in length, and it also contains 12 aircraft stands

Private aviation lounge

It is the hall designated to receive aircraft owned by institutions and individuals, where they are served and provide support for aircraft of about 50 or more.
