After hearing about the free-roaming peacocks at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historical Park, I knew I had to take my son here to see them. The second we got out of the car, we heard them squawking. I felt like I was in the Pixar movie Up! listening to Kevin beckon for his family. We saw multiple peacocks and at one point we were surrounded by 4! It was actually a little scary After exploring the grounds of Leo Carrillo Ranch, I took my son for a stroller jog on the dirt trails just north of the Ranch. These trails can be accessed from the driveway by the groundskeeper s house at Leo Carrillo Ranch Historical Park or from El Fuerte Street or Melrose Drive. The loop we did was about 2 miles. We started at the groundskeeper s quarters and headed west toward the bridge, crossed the bridge, then headed back east toward the Ranch.

Free parking in dirt parking lot
This park is free to walk around
Restrooms
Not a lot of shade
Most walkways are dirt. We used our BOB Jogging stroller around the grounds and on the surrounding trails
Many great photo opportunities
The peacocks are not afraid of people and will get very close, use caution and be respectful
Very kind employees/volunteers!
The workers opened up the barn and brought out the horse statute for my son to pet
One of the grounds keepers offered to let my son get up on the tractor, but he was too shy to do so
The gardener came up to us and told us where to find a cactus that had a flower that was blooming while we were there and would only bloom for about 3 hours.
