Linda Liu Review of Experience Music Project

So my pop culture knowledge is pretty much nil, and you can imagine I was a bit wary about checking out a museum called "The Museum of Pop Culture". I imagined it as a museum of tribute items to popular bands, so was kind of meh about it originally.
This museum is SO much more, and I would definitely go again in a heartbeat. Some highlights:
- Fashion exhibit with some super ridiculous costumes. Think giant lobster dress, (real + taxidermied) bird bra, clothes made of wood. Really, really cool!
- Video game exhibit with a couple of traveling games that you can't really play elsewhere. I had such a kick with Tenya Wanya Teens... give it a play if you can!
- Rooms that were fantasy, horror, and scifi themed. So much fun, and I'm far from a nerd in any of these areas.
The whole museum is really hands on and interactive. There are sound proof rooms where you can go and pretend to be a sound engineer, singer, guitar player, or DJ, for instance.
Of course, there were exhibits more along the lines of what I had originally expected in a Pop Culture museum (e.g. there was a whole exhibit on Nirvana when I went). These exhibits were really well done and I found them really interesting, despite my lack of familiarity with the bands. :)
Aim to spend easily an afternoon here. I'd say at least 3-4 hours to see everything.
