Top notch customer service! It was a Friday evening and I had just showed up to the Returns and Exchange Desk with my dresser in tow. I grabbed my number and sat down. I had a pleasant conversation with another guy waiting and before I knew it, he was being helped and I was next. So fast! I got to the desk and was greeted by two girls working next to each other. Daniela was at the computer and Rachel was next to her. Right away, Rachel brought the smile and consideration that every customer hopes to experience at a Customer Service Desk. It was Friday night, everyone's favorite night to be everywhere BUT work, and Rachel had a such a pleasant attitude like she was having a blast working. She cracked a few jokes with an associate to her left named Brian, all the while not skipping a beat to help Daniela assist me in my return. As they started to process my dilemma, we ran into an obstacle. The return amount needed to be mailed to the address on my ID but my wife and I had just recently moved. At this moment Rachel wasn't entirely sure what could be done and then turned to Brian who was actually the Manager! I had no idea because Brian was there the whole time just adding to the customer service experience. He told me that he would be willing to make an exception for this case and allow me to be paid the return amount without waiting. Wow! Now that's meeting the needs of the customer!! Seriously, I haven't seen a manager make such a positive and quick judgment call in a long time. Lately, it has felt like the days of "The customer is always right." Were long dead and forgotten. Many times I have felt like just a number or trouble-ticket, but not at IKEA! Brian did his override, I was paid on the spot and he even wrote a little signed note for the next person because I would be coming back with my second dresser later that day. Brian, Rachel, and Daniela, you guys helped my family and I immensely. Thanks again! Truly, the experience was so refreshing that I though about it for hours afterwards. "Why can't all Customer Service Desks be that enjoyable?" I thought to myself. IKEA for the win!
