The computer science department is smart about what and how it teaches. The learning model, which includes working with, helping, and relying on other students helps to fill in the experience that you can't normally get inside a classroom. Online courses are engaging, unlike what I experienced at my state college back home. If you are in applied math, I highly recommend MATH 335 (Data Wrangling and Visualization) as one of the best courses available. Those in computer science will likely enjoy the Machine Learning class, CS 450. Any of the design thinking DCM courses are worth considering for many students. I've found that most professors "get it" and are trying to maximize what's valuable after graduation. For many classes (after generals and highly traditional ones), this means plenty of case studies or projects. In my data science society, we do real projects for real companies. Some of us do multiple internships. To succeed you need to be willing to demand more of yourself and to rely on the Lord, who is the ultimate teacher.
