BETTER THAN DELTA GOODRUM

BETTER THAN DELTA GOODRUM
I'd like to say at the outset how magnificent Ms Lauren Schmutter sounded and looked as Grizabella, giving an absolutely outstanding delivery of Memory in the Albury Theatre Company's production of CATS. Absolutely nailed it! I have been to two previous productions of CATS and it does take a strong voice talent to do what this sweet, soaring, bombastic lament demands, and Lauren did not disappoint. The finest I've heard since Elaine Paige took the part. Absolutely spot-on. I do hope she reads this, as regrettably I didn't get a chance to congratulate her upstairs after the final show
(my youngest son, Luke Churcher, magnificently played Alonzo).
Grandest kudos also to Craig Quilliam (Munkastrap) for an unfaultable last show performance! Also delightfully magnificent was Bruce Kreutzberger as Gus, the oldest Jellicle of them all! A pleasure to meet and speak with this affable fellow after the show alongside the lovely and engaging Jude Scarfe (Tantomile). It was also a tremendous delight to hear the not always included Ballad of Billy McCaw. BRAVO AWTCo, BRAVO!
