King Khalid International Airport (IATA: RUH, ICAO: OERK) is a international airport about 20 km away from the Saudi capital, Riyadh. [1] [2] [3] It is the center of the national air transport system. Designed by the American Bureau of Architecture Helmut, Opata and Kasabaum, and opened in 1983 to be the largest airport in the world by area, with an area of land area of about 225 square kilometers, the airport bears the name of Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who was the fourth king of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
