Can I get 6 or 7 stars for this stop? Seriously, this place will blow your mind with every type of aircraft and space vehicles since the 19-oughts. Plan 4-6 hours (minimum) to walk through the millions of square feet that are simply stuffed with machines, both air and ground-based. Smartly divided by era to allow for intensive study of each era, each area is also filled with wall and divider displays of artifacts, many of which tell the stories of many significant (and ordinary) men that each devoted their lives to serving our country.

Wear comfortable shoes and plan ahead for breaks, as those concrete floors are murder in flats or flip-flops! Keep going all the way to the end to experience the walk-through exhibits of all the Presidential aircraft from Roosevelt to Clinton (the "Pre-747" era.) Spaces are very narrow, if you can get through the entry, you can transit the various aircraft - not to be missed. Hoping to see a VC-25 (747 variant) in the future!!

I didn't get to either of the cafes or the movie theater (additional charge) but there is literally so much to see in the collection I forgot to eat! Gift Shop is expansive and offers everything from pins and patches to full flight jackets and other military wear, with something for everyone at reasonable prices. Come with just a dollar, leave with souvenirs!

Did I mention that admission to this museum is FREE? Parking is FREE?
IMHO, this is the best and most complete museum of its type in the US, besting the Smithsonian in collection attractiveness (and way better parking than the Mall in DC!) and guest services. Drive out of your way to visit this jewel, not to be missed.
