Paul M Review of DET du Musée des Confluences (...

I went through this museum on my last visit to Lyon and I can not help saying that it is rather modern. The descriptions of this museum are rather vague on the internet. It is often referred to as a museum of civilizations and anthropology, which means both a lot and not much. Finally, after visit, these qualifications correspond well to the museum.
There are exhibitions both on natural history and on the history of distant civilizations. The armor of the Momoyama period is spectacular (16th century in Japan) and the collections of stones and fossils are quite impressive.
However, I find that the exhibitions are rather short and not necessarily relevant when looking for a precise and detailed subject. It is therefore a very convincing family museum and the number of children present can only confirm what I have said. You will find in this museum tracks to be interested in sciences or cultures, but you can simply go there to have a good time!
