BEWARE!!!! I had a squeaky furnace I thought just needed a tune-up, and a thermostat I wanted changed out with a new one I bought from Lowe's, so I asked them to come out and take a look. The tech installed the new thermostat with no problems then he looked at the furnace. After him looking at it, I was told that there was a crack in the Inducer Motor housing and that the housing and the inducer needed to be replaced. They red tagged the unit because of the crack, and said until it was fixed, they would have to shut the gas off. This was on a Friday, in January whenever it was in the 20's and 30's outside. They said it would take anywhere from 5-7 business days to get the part in from California and gave me an estimate of $918. I was told that they had a financing program for 18 months same as cash, so I applied and was approved. After further looking at the estimate I noticed that the parts and labor were not separated, there was only a total number, and not a break down of the two. After talking to the tech about this he told me that the office is the one who gave him the price and that I would have to call and talk to them, so I did. I spoke to the the customer service manager about why there was not a break down of the parts and labor, and they couldn't give me a straight answer. They said the price included the training for their techs, labor and the part. The CS manager said that the tech is the one who quotes the price and that I would have to speak with him. I explained to him I already did that, and that the tech said, "that I should speak to the office." After getting the run around I told him that I wanted to get a second opinion and to not order anything and put everything on hold. So I made a few phone calls to different heating and A/C companies and spoke to a gentlemen who came out to my house that Monday, with the the inducer motor and housing, and charged me $400 flat!!! I called back to A#1 Air and asked to speak to the manager and I told her that I had my furnace fixed by another company and that they tried to over charge me by $500!! I was very upset as you can imagine. I told her that I had opened a line of credit with the fiance company through her office and that there better not be a charge on it, to which she said, "that I would have had to sign off on the paperwork after the work was completed to incur a charge." Being that I never had them fix my furnace or do any work on it, I left it at that. Three weeks later I get a statement in the mail showing that they did indeed put the charge on the line of credit, but then issued a credit the very next day. These people will over charge you if they think you will fall for it!! Please don't use A#1 Air, or if you do get a second opinion if things don't seem right. They will take advantage of people who don't know any better!! I didn't want to give them one star, but had to in order to post this.
