My first date in London was here and it is everything I would (as a newbie to London) imagine a traditional, British, member's club to look like. It felt like stepping into a past era, with portraits of 'important' looking gentleman in front of automobiles back in the 1800's.

Exploring the entire place, from room to room, felt like Alice in Wonderland (the British version). They had a library filled with Lonely Planet, and quality paper and pen to write notes on. Complete with fireplace, this room was my favourite. Aside from the typical restaurents and bars, they also had cigar selections, outdoor terraces, Turkish baths, pools etc. It is definitely somewhere you should try and experience once. As far as members clubs go, I think it would be a lovely one to join, as it is big enough to fly under the radar, and has baths and pools that you can actually use (versus just going to socialise).

Definitely a memorable first date because of the place (more than the person).
