I found it very welcoming. Most of the rooms have a lake view. Volendam is a very charming town. It really is an art gallery hotel. It has a pool and sauna. It is 30 min from Amsterdam. I recommend buying the bus pass per day or the days that you are going to be here. Otherwise the bus costs 15 euros from Volendam to Amsterdam.
