This somber gray "bunker" was built at the time of the destruction of historical and religious monuments of Kiev by Bolsheviks. It was a part of the plan to demolish all the buildings from Mikhailovskaya Square to Sofia Church, which would allow the construction of a new architecture of the new communist era in its place. There is no need to be a great connoisseur of history and architecture, to imagine those terrible times, looking around: at the Funicular, Mikhailovsky Golden-Domed Monastery and St. Andrew's Church by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. From the Monastery, we go along the Desjatynna street to the Andriivsky Descent.
