I just recently moved in and have only been at Avalon Potomac Yard for 2 weeks (after looking at 10 locations in the Alexandria area). I didn't experience all the changes that longer residents have gone through, so I can't attest to what happened in the past. That said, first impressions are everything, and so far I've been super impressed with the management and the community. Special thanks to Carolyn as her attention to detail, friendliness and personality are exemplary. So far, I am absolutely enjoying my experience. I love how convenient the residence is located to everything...including Giant, Target, Best Buy and a ton of restaurants. It's very quick to 495 and 395 and a quick ride to Crystal City, Old Town Alexandria and DC. As for those who complain about thin walls and noisy neighbors, I think they are just SUPER sensitive. The noise is not a problem at all unless you expect EXTREME peace and quiet all the time. Personally, I like the hustle and bustle of the area. Anyways, would highly recommend as the location is great the the price point is very reasonable compared to locations around it.
