My dog Kody entered this clinic a few days ago and the only problem he had, was vomiting a bit of white foam in the morning. All else, he was a happy dog and he was fine, eating, drinking normally, jumping and full of energy even though he is reached an old age. This doctor which I do not know her name, gave my dog this medicine called Cerenia or Maropitant and she said that was an anti-nausea medicine. She made no mention of any possible side effects to us and neither explained possible consequences that can come by giving him this. Later I researched online and I found out that this drug can stop vomiting and without ascertaining first that there are no obstructions in his GI tract, you would be taking a risk as this drug would stop any stuck object(s) to come out. Had you said something simple like: if you cannot afford other tests, consider the risks of giving him this injection, these side effects (list) and possible consequences. Instead you said NOTHING!

After receiving this injection, 15 minutes later after going back home, my dog was lethargic and extremely confused as if he had been drugged and/or sedated. We called several times and the Doctor never herself called us back. The nurse we spoke twice with, said it was not normal that he was having these side effects. I complained to the nurse and explained that the doctor never warned us of possible side effects, one of them being DEATH!!!

Digging deeper, I found out that people nicknamed this drug the medicine of death and there are several complaints from other people reporting death, lethargy and loss of appetite among other side effects.

My dog Kody which has been hungry like a lion since day 1, he does not eat now, drinks very little and we are now trying to get him better BY GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE and figuring out a solution that can undo the effects of this drug and the incompetence and/or negligence of this horrible Doctor.

HOW DARE YOU TO GIVE MY DOG AN INJECTION WITHOUT INFORMING ME OF ANY POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THIS HAD HAPPENED TO YOUR PET? What would you do? I have ZERO trust in your establishment and will never come back.

And mark my words, if my dog ought to die because of this, I will sue you and Long Island Veterinary specialists and make sure you do not kill any other animals because of your incompetence and/or negligence!!!
