I have been running a city water home system for nearly a month now.
My decision to purchase this system was the desire of being able to eliminate the ferric chloride, chloramine, chlorine byproducts, and other chemicals my municipality uses to treat algae, bacteria, and run off from our water source (Mississippi River).

Installation was initially a concern because my basement utility room has limited space. The regional manager, Ben Peterson, promptly recommended the zero backwash system as a solution because it has a much smaller foot print compared to the standard city system. I did not need to bring in a plumber or service guy to do the installation, which instead was handled by my dad who is a retired over-the-road truck driver (my participation for the install was limited to wiring up the flow switch). It took my dad a few hours over a 2 day period but the installation went smoothly. Technical support was readily available when we needed it and the Ecosmarte reps were very helpful and pleasant during interaction.

There has been a noticeable change in the quality of my water since the system was installed. My parents were over recently and mentioned the chlorine taste is no longer present in the water. I think the taste is more distinctive to them than it is to me since they are from a rural area and are using well water minus the chlorine and other chemicals. Similar observations have been made by my cousin who is over often. He also has a hard reference point for comparison because his residence near Lake Minnetonka uses Reverse Osmosis. He agrees about it tasting better but what he likes even more is the feel of the water at my home compared to the RO water he drinks and bathes in.
