This is an Episcopalian Retreat Center tucked nicely away in the peaceful, quiet woods. Ignoring the goofy mailing address --the place is actually more convenient to Jasper than it is Nauvoo-- Camp McDowell was relatively easy to find and HAPPILY off the beaten path. The staffers are friendly and helpful, the food is amazing, and the rooms are cozy. The prices are certainly more British than American, but you can overlook this flaw when you focus on the mission and the friends you'll make out there.
