The reviews online and the photos make this hotel ...

The reviews online and the photos make this hotel look 4-5 star, however, the hotel needs some money spent on it to bring it up to this level, as it lacking service and quality throughout the hotel from start to finish.

Staying as a couple and paying a decent amount for a two nights stay, we would expect more from the Grand Mirage than what we got over the two days. We were very disappointed and wanting to leave after night one because of a number of problems throughout the hotel which weren't up to scratch.

The hotel is very large, plenty of rooms, a kids pool, and a larger pool for adults, all connected as you can see in the pictures. They offer activities throughout the day, in the pool, such as volleyball and water aerobics, so you're welcome to participate. This wasn't told to us upon checkin, we stumbled into the sign walking around the pool the following day. Perhaps a brochure on the days activities on check-in would be useful?

The room we got was a balcony ocean view room, very basic, nothing fancy. Older style bali decor type room, with a very small wall mounted tv that you had to squint to watch. It looked out of place in the room as it was super small!
The mugs in the room were dirty and sticky! not cleaned properly. this put us off having coffee, so we walked down to Starbucks which is a 2minute walk away for a decent coffee.

Yes the room had a safe, but it wasn't bolted down to anything! You could pick this up and walk out of the room with the safe! FAIL! Not ideal for your valuables.

The shower was very small, one person maximum, if you're lucky. You had to perform a funky dance move to get out of the shower whilst opening the door. Limited water in the room, stock the rooms up with water, you know we can't drink the tap water, put more bottles in the room to use.

I hit-up the gym one morning to get a quick work-out done. The gym was alright, older style equipment which needs replacing, but it did the job. A few people were in there early in the morning working up a sweat too which was good to see.
There was no music in the gym, and the hand sanitiser was empty, top it up !

The breakfast in the morning was horrible. You have to wait to order eggs and stand around for 10-20 minutes, or more, whilst they cook your eggs. have a ticket system like most other hotels, where you write your order down and table number and you deliver it to the table! Poor service!

The Dim Sum on day two was not fresh at all. It was like cardboard. I complained straight away, as it was not fresh, it must of been the days before dim sum. I showed a waiter and they agreed and it was swapped out. But why does this happen in the first place?! Poor poor poor!

For a 4-5 star resort that they want to be, there was no salt and pepper shakers on the table, it was sachets which were limited and we had to ask for them to bring more to the table.

The pool service to get drinks around the pool doesn't start till 11am. The sun comes up at 6/7am in the morning, and its hot enough to swim them! Provide service at the pool! Poor form!

Overall this hotel is trying to be a 4-5 star resort but lacks service and overall quality.

You can find a far better resort / spa in this area or others, for a cheaper price, and one that provides guests an easy access entrance / exit from the hotel, not one where you have to walk all the way around to the car entrance and back onto the main street, waste of time! Create a peoples entrance in the middle for guests!

It needs a lot of work, staff trained to a higher level if they want to attract a higher star rating.
