Most of the modern art looks like it could have been drawn by a 5 year old. About 40 percent is worth seeing. 10 percent relies on shock value instead of artistic talent, and another 10 percent seems to have been manufactured in the basements of frustrated angry people. A good 20 percent of art is probably only there due to artist reputation and the remaining 20 percent is worth seeing for novelty. Modern art shows us that when we remove objective standards, the remaining subjective standards are far less fair to artists as success seems to rely on social connections, political favor and reputation instead of talent.
