Umaid Bhawan Palace as known the world's no. 1 Heritage hotel.... No hotel can match the luxury and Service....One of the largest and grandest private residences in the world. It is approximately 1/3 Residence of the Maharajah, 1/3 Museum and 1/3 Taj Hotel. The welcome with trumpets (or equivalent) and drums is just stunning.
If you wish someone a day to remember it would be an afternoon by the pool - the staff with the picnic basket - the attention to detail. Chandan & Sarwan what a team.
We had a long breakfast at "Pillars" overlooking the gardens with the accompaniment of two musicians one playing an instrument with 99 strings and the other looked like a set of drum of bongo drums. Then they played the Elvis song "I can't help falling in love with you" and there was hardly a dry eye on the verandah.
If you have a special occasion this is the place.
The hotel has two pools, both outdoor and indoor, and their indoor pool is like a cavern, I believe it is one of the largest in the country. They have a room where they have tons of boardgames for kids and adults alike, and we did spend some time there, and their library is imposing as well. Make sure to take some time to have a tour of the palace which happens every evening, it is a must. We were shown the Maharani Suite as Maharaja Suite was accompanied at that time. You do get a feel of the amazing history that is associated with the palace.

We had food at all their restaurants as well as had a nip at their famed bar. The service we received each time was outstanding. And food was lovely too. Having a nice breakfast overlooking the palace grounds with a glass of champagne is good stuff.

Finally, as much as it is about the property, which is great it itself, I believe it is the personnel there who have had such an impact on making the guests feel welcome. We ran into a bunch of great staff, right from check in as mentioned above to Suryadeep, Kaushik, Kalyan, Sahil, Vikram & Saddique Ji at restaurants and Manveer and Sumer. We found each of them delightful and amazing. Interacting with them during various parts of the stay only enhanced our stay.
We did have one small problem during our afternoon tea at
the first day, there was some delay in bringing out the tea. They were apologetic about it and we were told that it was due to a sudden audit of the kitchens. However, this in no way had any impact on our otherwise great stay whatsoever. The small mementos that the hotel provides at check out goes a long way in preserving our memories. Overall a lovely stay and we will definitely visit again when our travels take us to Jodhpur.
