I love this library and the whole system of libraries in Nassau County. I ve been a library member since I was a kid, and that s a long time ago. I used to go when it was a house on the opposite side of the street and the kid section of books was in the entrance way. I was there with my mom when the big northeast blackout happened and they had to kick us out.
I ve always used this library and, since I was a teacher, I would reserve 30 or more books in the summer. They used to have one shelf in the section where they kept reserved books as my shelf because there tended to be so many books. One summer they did Blind Date with a Book where they wrapped books in paper and you just chose one and found out what it was when you opened it. What a great way to introduce readers to new authors. I enjoyed that and hope they do it again.
Reserving books is so easy now on line. I still often have 20-30 books reserved because I find out when my favorite authors will have a new book come out and get right online to reserve it.
I have lived in other states and can honestly say that this library far exceeds others in book availability and the all-around helpfulness of the staff.
