My Wife and I are Merriott rewards members and use the delta hotel exclusively when travelling through Calgary. delta suffers from classic operational reform that has them misplacing their efforts in order for perceived efficiencies that diminish the value of their brand and nothing to increase the customers experience. They offer in in room menus but ask you if you want to pick the food up at the desk or pay five dollars to have it brought to your room, they offer levels of opulence with their King suites and charge a lot more for the supreme suite that has little or no difference in amenities short of a larger TV. (about 100.00 more a night.) They advertise a program to reuse their towels for planetary conservation yet bring their room service up wrapped in plastic, with plastic cutlery, in a bag that will all end up in a landfill. In another example of good news bad news, the plus side of this venue is their steak house which is one of the best service experiences that I have attended in Calgary yet they don't offer it to their customers on weekends. The front desk staff is courteous and try's to apologize for these concerns while at the same time reply that "that's just the way it goes". I think the management needs to readdress the concepts of operations excellence as it appears they have gotten off track.
