Gem W Review of Tiffin motorhomes

My sister and brother in law just purchased a new Tiffin motorhome that they had ordered several months ago so that it would be made to their specs. When they picked it up it had numerous aesthetic issues that (because of the holidays) they delayed having fixed. Within 10 days the motor home blew 2 cylinders. Those got fixed. After the first few days they found that the water heater, thermostat and heat pump didn't work. These then got fixed. Within a few more days the engine (made by Ford) "froze up" and has to be replaced entirely. In order to do this you have to cut open the structure of the motor home and then re weld it when the engine is replaced. So basically the motor home will be repaired like it had been in an accident. This vehicle has about 300 miles on it including the miles for delivery (180). This vehicle is their full time home so while all this is getting fixed they are basically homeless- having to rent a place to live.
I would recommend that you do not buy a Tiffin motor home until we see how Tiffin takes care of them... or not. I will keep you updated.
Update: Tiffin has promised to make them an entire new motor home- made to order- and pay for their temporary housing while they wait for it. (6 more weeks) Of course the new engine will still made by Ford, so hopefully it won't be another lemon.
Update 2-5-21: The new Ford motor is in and they have traveled 50 miles to the Tiffin factory, now they are awaiting the build of their (2nd) new motorhome. A claim has been made for temporary housing- not paid yet.
Update 2-22-21: Still waiting outside the factory for the new home.
There is a decent motor home park there, it's just not where they want to be.
Update 3-13-21 Still waiting
Update 4-1-21 Finally got the new motorhome (3 1/2 months of waiting)
Update 4-3-21 Multiple problems with the new motorhome: hydraulic leak, cabinet upgrades were not completed on all cabinets (so they don't match), several lights not functioning, drivers chair does not lock in place correctly (glad they found this out before driving!). They haven't been able to leave the factory area yet and now have to go to at least three different fix it bays to get everything fixed. At this point they said they would definitely not recommend Tiffin Motorhomes. At one point Andy Bayer with Tiffin said " "I'm not sure we're ever going to be able to make you happy." Really? They think it's ok to have a seat that doesn't lock in place when you drive? They think it's ok to interrupt their customers lives for 3 1/2 months (and counting) and not bend over backwards to make it right? Don't buy Tiffin.
4-20-21 Finally done- over 4 months wasted waiting for Tiffin to make things the way they should have been in the first place.
