This is my family's third trip to The Wilderness our fourth to the Dells. Things have clearly changed. We were there for four days - a quick getaway over Labor Day. When we arrived, the young woman at the desk completely circled the wrong entrance and identified the wrong segment of the building. After a bit of a hike, we found our room only to discover it reeked of mold and dampness. I did not want to brave the crowded lobby again so I just opened the door and hoped for the best. The next disappointment were the waterparks. It rapidly became apparent that the day passes were a problem. The parks were WAY overcrowded - even pre-COVID that would have been full - post-COVID that was ridiculous. Cleanliness was appalling. My children found someone's fake eyelashes and part of a weave floating in the wave pool. When we arrived in the morning, the chairs were well spaced, but people kept moving them closer and closer with staff not saying a single word. When we attempted to play laser tag, I had to walk back to the gift shop to figure out what the girl running laser tag was even telling me since suddenly tickets could not be purchased at the desk.

All in all, I would say this is our last trip to The Wilderness. It used to be a relatively nice, almost high end, waterpark resort. This trip it felt like every other slightly slimy waterpark struggling to turn a buck.
