I'm from Maine, but I'm in New Jersey for the summer. My friend brought me here to watch his friend's band play. I was all excited because I've heard a lot about how iconic this place is and it was my first time on the Shore... then we got there. The bouncer stopped me and looked at my ID for a good 5 minutes. Since it's an out of state ID I'm used to that at this point, but when he started black lighting it for the second and third time I got nervous. At this point he BROKE IT IN HALF and told me it was fake. I'd like to take this opportunity to say it is actually a REAL ID from Maine that I've had since I was 16. I'm 21 now. I asked if he could have the police come verify that it was a legitimate ID since he was not inclined to believe me. He refused in a rude fashion, calling me a liar and telling me "real IDs don't bend in half." I asked to see the manager. The manager refused, also quite rudely. My friend ended up calling the police and when they finally showed up half an hour later they verified that it was a real ID also... As the cop was telling the bouncer this he STILL didn't want to believe it. Finally he let me in without even a real apology. Not worth the awful service and bouncers on a power trip. Glad I got to see my friend's band though, I guess.
