Always a treat visiting this marvelous building full of beautiful art. We come to visit it because of "A Sonata of Beethoven" by Alfred Edward Emslie who lived in our house and painted that picture in our drawing room :) we have a print but it's truly magnificent being able to see it out on display (quite massive in person)
Underneath the gallery are the remnants of a roman Colosseum which are well preserved and interesting to see. The paintings are truly breathtaking and all host such charm about them. I could spend hours here (and have done many times). The atmosphere is so calming and always an appropriate temperature. Highly recommend this as a day out in itself. ADMISSIONS ARE FREE.
