Had pink eye for the first time in my life. Some medical background and knew it was bacterial so told doc that. She ignored that and said it's viral and Gabe maxitrol which is ABx and steroids. Well a week later with minimal relief, my eye got worse and weeped green stuff non stop. Had to go to ER who said drops may have only worked slightly, but steroids can make bacteria infections worse.
Went to my primary care who said my eye was full of nasties and he flushed out my eye (which Harvard did not) and gave me strong ABx only drops. Worked first day! For the first time in over a week I didn't wake up to a crusted over eye. I understand they are docs and I'm sure millions of people diagnose themselves, but every symptom I gave pointed to bacterial and she just said viral. As a patient, you want to at least feel heard and I can say I didn't feel like that. Now I will say that Harvard is still my main eye doc office and I see Dr. Levy who is phenomenal! This experience just caused me to feel less confident when I have certain illnesses.
