Not your typical Double Tree. Just judging from the lobby, my first impression was that this was gonna be nice hotel, the kind of nice that you expect from a double tree. That's where the "nice" stops. At the front desk 2 of the staff members were very nice and cordial, 3 of them were not so much. The hotel overall is very dingy and dirty looking. The carpet is stained, and there are smithy looking grey, black and brown smears on the walls and ceilings. Dirt, dust, and crumbs in the corners of the halls and in the rooms, and on the edges of the moldings. Much more like what you'd expect from a much cheaper hotel. The furnishings are worn and dated looking. When I got to my first room I did a quick survey of the place and then called down to the front desk to ask if the hotel was previously something else and then just bought out by the Double Tree brand. The lady on the phone told me no, but that it was independently owned. I guess that means that the owner has the discretion as to whether or not they chose to adhere to Double Trees standards. They offered to switch my room to the newer renovated wing and I accepted, but when I got to it I could tell no real difference. Overall I was very disappointed with this hotel. The rooms are smaller than most any other hotel I've ever seen, and they lack basic amenities such as microwaves and mini fridges. The walls must be super thin because it litteraly sounded like the ice machine was in the room with us. ALSO THIS HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE THE signature Double Tree "Sweet Dreams" mattresses! This is one of the biggest pluses of staying at a double tree; they have one of the top mattresses of any hotel line. But you won't get that here; just a very cheap standard mattress. They also don't offer you ANYTHING for breakfast anymore. They say that breakfast is available for purchase from their very over priced restaurant. There are a lot of better hotel options in very close proximity.
