I just moved to the area and have not hooked up my printer, or scanner. I received a call late in the day needing me to print, sign and return an email. I did a Google search for the nearest UPS or Fed-Ex store as I have had good luck with these franchises in the past. I called this location and specifically asked how much it would cost me to print and scan one email prior to going over. I was told .10c per print and $1 for the scan. I brought $1.75 in cash expecting taxes. Its a good thing I brought my Visa, because what was expected to be a $1.25 ended up over $6! When I was being rung up I was told of the $2.50 email charge and the $1 per minuet computer usage charge. Not only was the computer slow as molasses, but i was getting charged the entire time it was loading!!! When I questioned the additional fees I got nods and under the breath sarcasm stating that the computer was leased (when I arrived the owner was clearly in the middle of a intense game of solitaire) and that I could have either scanned ($1) my document back to the computer ($1 per min) or email ($2.50) directly to my account. I know that most families in the area would not blink an eye at the 400% increase from the phone estimate, but I have two small children and we budget every dollar.
