Dennis, with American Chimney & Masonry (AC&M), did an awesome job on replacing our old gas fireplace and oak surround, and recessing a new fireplace into the existing stone column. When we bought the house, there was a huge, ugly, woodstove "perched" on a 12'-high stone platform, and vented into the stone column/chimney, and there were rainwater leaks in coming from around the chimney. Originally we removed the stone platform and had a cabinetmaker build an oak surround and mantel, with a gas fireplace installed in the "cabinet." This was "better" than the woodstove, but still protruded into, and narrowed, the room by 18". After Dennis had completed his stone and tilework, we had: reclaimed the 18" of room width; had a new, updated gas fireplace; and added a much more contemporary look to the room. Additionally, Liz, Julie, and everyone else at AC&M were a delight to work with, on time, and on budget! We had such positive experiences with these folks, that we decided to have the external masonry completely re-flashed, resealed, and waterproofed. We could not be more pleased with the professionalism and work ethic of Dennis and everyone we communicated with at AC&M. Thanks to you ALL!
