Honestly, I wish I would have read all these reviews prior to trying to negotiate with this company; then I would have known what to expect. I spoke to a gentleman named Kiantay about my collection with Citibank. I don't blame them for a mistake I made when I had no job and my only source of income was a credit card, I get it, it was my problem, and I've been trying to make things right for my family and myself. I had begun to save money to eventually be able to negotiate the amount of $3k. However, due to the pandemic, my job hours have been drastically reduced and I had to dip into the savings for the collection to pay for our groceries. At that point, I didn't care about my collection, I cared about seeing that my family made it through. With the help of family we have been able to pay our rent and buy only essentials, but I'm at a point where I no longer want to have to ask my family for help BUT I can't take out a loan because of this one collection I have. When I spoke to Kiantay I mentioned that I didn't have the $3k but I had enough to negotiate and put that problem in the past. Kiantay's response throughout the converstation was, "that is not enough, we need the balance paid in full". When I saw that there was no way out, I mentioned that I would agree to start monthly payments and he said, "no, I can no longer offer that option because you rejected it at the beginning of the call". This didn't make me mad, more than anything I was upset that even with everything that is going on, I am working hard on trying to work on my credit profile. After my unsuccesful converstation with Mr. Rude and High-Handed, I decided to wait until I can save more money to pay this off. I have been working with a financial coach on my budget and credit. I am already living as minimally as I can so it's been easy to stick to my budget. There is no easy way to obtaining excellent credit, I know it takes time, but at least I now have the guidance and the right knowledge as a consumer. To all my fellows, please keep in mind that good credit does not mean you're a good person and bad credit does not mean you're a bad person; LIFE HAPPENS!! CREDIT is only temporary and NOT PERMANENT, so when you are speaking to Kiantay at Hunt and Henriques and he makes you feel stupid just remember that it doesn't take much knowledge to answer the phone and only say "no, we want all our money".
