My husband was profiled to lose at the blackjack table. We stopped at Lucky Eagle Casino in early June for a little fun on the way back from a weekend getaway celebrating 20 years together. Every time my husband started winning a little the dealer would step back and switch with another dealer. In the hour or so he was at the blackjack tables the casino swapped out the dealer at least ten times, which interrupted the flow of the game and caused other players to leave the table.

We are not big gamblers. This was only my second time visiting a casino and my husbands third. The only other time he had gone to Lucky Eagle was seven years ago when he went with a group celebrating his little brothers bachelor party. He did well at the blackjack tables that night and came home with a pocket full of cash, and a fun story to tell.

Then four years ago in late June, a week before his birthday, my husbands brother died suddenly. The one he had gone to celebrate the bachelor party for. It was such a shock that our family was haunted by it and we lived in a cloud of grief for over a year before things started to return to a level of normal. It took a lot of courage this June for my husband to suggest we revisit Lucky Eagle, as so many of the happy and sad memories of his little brother were just below the surface. We may have actually stayed a night in the casino's hotel if we'd won a little money back, but no, the staff decided he was too high risk and ruined our experience with their greed. Needless to say we will never go back.
